About
I’ve always been obsessed with good design... In fact, it‘s been my life’s occupation, so after 34 years of working each lump of clay into one of a kind vessels, I jumped at the chance to make my ceramics available to a broader audience. This opportunity presented itself 2 years ago, after a successful New York show where a sales representative approached me, planting the seed of bringing my designs to the national stage. This marked the start of a life-changing walk. These pages bring you the fruits of this endeavor, collaborating with artisans, specializing in quality production.
The line you see for sale here is not made by my hands, but is an exact reproduction of samples I developed for the retail market. Prototypes and endless color ways were developed and duplicated to my exact specifications, and the results are stunning. In the final product, we‘ve been able to retain the hand painted integrity of every piece with an affordable price tag. At each step of this adventure, practicality was considered as important as aesthetics: how do these bowls stack? Will the plates fit in the dishwasher? Does this mug fit comfortably in my hand? When all these criteria were met, without compromising ‘the look’, we were good to go and “Savory Stripe” was launched! This is the debut collection, which I hope to be the first of many.
Because this collection is hand painted in limited quantities, items you preorder this season will arrive at your door early Summer of 2010. We realize that this process requires your patience. Much like the farm to table movement, this is an art to table opportunity, a slower grass roots approach. In exchange for your patience, you will receive part of an exclusive, limited tabletop line of exceptional quality.
Some things are worth waiting for and no one is more eager than I – it‘s thrilling to be able to share with you my life's work, and to offer a product that lives up to my obsession, good design! I invite you and your friends to be a part of this exciting new venture of exclusive quality, limited runs, affordability and ethical production. It‘s something we can all feel good supporting.
Bon Appétit!
